On June 25th, 2009, the world lost a true icon when Michael Jackson passed away, but his legacy lives on through his great music and the league of many diehard fans. With his legacy largely intact and his brand still strong, Jackson was as enigmatic as he was gifted.
Michael Jackson (1958 – 2009) is popularly known as the “King of Pop” for his legacy as a dancer, singer, producer, songwriter, and an actor. He produced the best-selling album of all time –Thriller. He’s the only artist to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.
The media often referred to Michael Jackson as the “King of Pop” since, throughout his career, paved the way for modern pop music and he transformed the art of music videos. For much of his career, he had an unmatched global influence over the younger generation through his music, dance, and the humanitarian aids.

3. Jackson slept in an oxygen tank. He was dubbed “Whacko Jacko” when he purchased an oxygen chamber. Michael once mentioned that sleeping in an oxygen chamber would help him live up to 150 years old, which is a century short of the pop icon’s life.
While filming a commercial for Pepsi, Jackson was burned and had to use the chamber to recover from that accident. An oxygen chamber is designed to enable a person to breathe in 100 percent oxygen instead of the small volumes humans breathe in normal atmospheric conditions.
4. Jackson was not only famous for his incredible music, but he also was one of the first musicians to popularize his stunts on stage. Some of his signature moves were the Moon Walk and Robot, both of which garnered an enormous following amongst his fans.
5. In 1984, the United States Library claimed one million dollar fine for unreturned books about Jackson. Wow! Such an intense reading habit! But, MJ was way highly respected to be caught in a library suit; this, the unit decided to forfeit the fine if Michael would return all overdue books with his autograph in them so that those books could be kept as valued items in the library.
6. Michael’s moves were no small dance numbers. When it came to stage performance, he had one of the greatest plans up his sleeve. Under his name was a unique shoe device which helped him to lean towards the audience during his dance moves, making him look like he was going against the gravity!
7. Michael Jackson is the most-awarded artist of all time. With 40 Billboard Awards, 23 Guinness World Records, 26 American Music Awards, and13 Grammys, Jackson has won awards more than any other musician.
