Morgan Freeman was born on the 1st June 1937; his star sign is a Gemini. He was born in Tennessee, United States. Morgan Freeman is the son of Morgan Porterfield Freeman, a barber who passed away on April 27th, 1961, from cirrhosis, and Mayme Edna (1912-2000), a teacher.
Based on a DNA analysis, it is believed that some of his ancestors were from Niger. Morgan was sent to his paternal grandmother in Charleston, Mississippi while he was still an infant. He regularly moved during his childhood, living in Greenwood, Mississippi; Chicago, Illinois; and Gary, Indiana.

2. Freeman trademarked his name. Following a 2005 lawsuit in which he won the rights to the domain morganfreeman.com, the United States Trademark and Patent Office granted him a trademark on his name “Morgan Freeman” in 2006.
3. He is a golf record holder. Morgan is the first American to record a par on “Extreme 19th” hole at the Legend Golf & Safari Resort in South Africa. It is the longest and highest par 3 hole in the world.
4. Morgan owns a blues club in Mississippi. In May of 2001, he teamed with two Memphis entrepreneurs to open Ground Zero, situated in Clarksdale, Mississippi
5. Freeman was in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1959. In fact, he joined the military after rejecting a scholarship to study drama at Jackson State University. He started studying acting at a collegiate level at Los Angeles City College in the early 60’s after he left the military.
6. When Morgan was in junior high school, he pulled a chair out from under a girl (who he revealed that he had a crush on). As a punishment, the teachers ordered him to join school’s drama program. Luckily, he discovered his talent!
7. Freeman has played the role of a boxing instructor in three different films. In three of his film roles, he played a character of teaching someone how to box. These films were, Million Dollar Baby, Kiss the Girls, and The Power of One.
8. At age 65, Morgan got a private pilot’s license. He owns at least three private aircraft and he’s qualified to fly all of them.
9. On the night of August 3, 2008, Morgan was injured in a car accident near Ruleville, Mississippi. The car in which he was driving, a 1997 Nissan Maxima, veered off the highway and flipped over many times.
